Those Elves…

By July 13, 2009#Life

What are those elves called who come into places and move things around?  Because I think we have some in our cabin.  About ten minutes ago I walked into the 2nd bedroom in our cabin, which holds Matt’s guitar, our swim-ware, and extra bedding (along with two unused bunk beds).  I was more than a little surprised when I saw a mammoth dresser sitting in the room.  It wasn’t there when we left for the camp office this morning, nor was it there when I took a short break this afternoon.

I have logically come to the conclusion that we have elves in our cabin.  What are they called again?  Furniture elves?  Wood elves?  Feng shui elves?  I’m not sure.  All I know is they’re sneaky little elves and I’m laying a trap for them.  I’ll lure them in with Lucky Charms and see where things go from there.  (Side Question: will the same delicious charms and Luckies- my favorite part, which for those who don’t know already I call the marshmallows the Luckies- work for elves as well as they do to attract leprechauns?  I suppose we’ll see.)

If this approach produces no sign of elves, I will then pursue the more frightening scenario of walking dressers… I think it would be very alarming to wake up midway through the night to use the bathroom and find the lurky dresser already in there…  (Ugh.  Shudder.)

If you put out Lucky Charms, you might find me in there! Mmmm! Maybe I’ll bump into your elves!

If you see them, make sure you don’t meet their tricky little eyes. Just take the Lukies and go! …It would be interesting to find you in my cabin in the morning surrounded by Lucky Charms! Ha ha! 🙂 -And if it turns out it’s really the dresser just slowly back away and leave the Luckies…

Oh my goodness. This reminds me so much of grandma. One time woodland elves left 8 dressers in my bedroom. It got a little crowded, but we learned to get along. I would try to catch the elves before you have a dresser pandemic. Think H1N1 virus, minus pigs, plus wooden objects.

Right. As long as it’s the dressers moved by elves I’m fine. It’s when the dressers are moving on their own that panic sets in. No one wants a dresser pandemic after all. Besides, they’re sneaky -sneakier than elves- and so large… The only time I haven’t minded a moving dresser- wardrobe really- was in beauty and the beast because it was really a person who was enchanted… Ew. Suddenly sounds even creepier.

P.S. So far, no luck with the Lucky Charms. This morning I was the only one eating them. …Maybe I’m the elf and just don’t know it…
