One of the most commonly overused phrases is “make a difference in the world.” It’s a moving statement with broad implications, but it offers little direction. If you’re looking for a place to start, engage in some introspection. A little may go a long way.

To make a difference in the world you have to make differences in your life. How does the way you think and act set you apart from the crowd?

Or alternatively,

To make no difference in the world, make no differences in your life. Think and act like everyone in the crowd.

When we quit trying to change the world and begin to change ourselves, we’re on our way to making a real difference.
