What the bull?

One sunny November day, a week and a half before elections, Matt and I were at Barnes and Noble. While looking at books, we were startled to see someone dressed in a bull costume pass closely by the window. He was holding a sign for a candidate. I'm not sure who he was supporting, but I'm pretty sure that's the…

San Diego

Ahhh....San Diego... the sunshine, the beach, the Reeds! (No, not us) My family just moved there about two weeks ago. My mom, dad, sister and her four kids packed up all their belongings and made the move from Detroit to San Diego. They are currently living at Signature Point, an apartment community a little under two miles from the beach.…

Oh a tree in motion

When I was in fifth grade I was with my stepsister, Tammy, and we heard a woman request a song on the radio. She asked if they'd play "Oh a tree in motion." The DJ laughed and informed her the real song title was "Poetry in Motion." I thought it was funny. I still do.

Hope for Auto Shops

Yesterday I set an appointment for an oil change and alignment on our car at Tires Plus (first-time customers at this one) at 3pm. So Jill and I went to Caribou (comes in second to Target in most visited category) to hang out while they worked on it. Five o'clock rolled around and we still hadn't heard anything from them.…

Cheetos

I have, for a long time, believed my toes look like Cheetos (but not orange like Cheetos or anything creepy like that). So that's what I call my toes. Sometimes, at a party when people have Cheetos -or cheese puffs- I've been caught lowering them to my feet... you know, just to compare. What's strange (although you may think the…

Our first 5k

A couple weeks ago Jill and I ran a 5k on a whim. We saw a flyer in a Caribou the week before and decided to set our alarm the following Saturday at 5:30am. If we could wake up, we'd run the race. We managed to crawl out of bed and made our way to register early. The race was…

Poinsettia Down

A few years ago I was at a Christmas party with Matt's coworkers. There were free poinsettias given away and I grabbed one with white leaves, or petals... what are those things anyway? Is it actually a flower? I've never been very into poinsettias in general, but a free plant was a nice offer and it would give me something…

Skywalker

There's something to be said about Luke Skywalker. In all three movies he's this geeky awkward boy who whines about power converters, yet as the tale is told, he's wiser than Obi-Wan and Yoda.  Somehow only he manages to see the good in the most evil person in the universe. While Obi-Wan and Yoda are like, "You gotta kill him",…

Chad

When I was in elementary school there was a kid in my class named Chad Thomas. Chad is the reason I got into fights when I was in school -keep in mind I was a tender-hearted Tomboy.  I didn't like fighting, but I'd do it if I felt I had to. (more…)

Transformers

My favorite transformer was Perceptor.  For those of you unfamiliar with the Transformers world, Perceptor transformed into a microscope. I could have owned Bumblebee, Megatron, or even Optimus Prime, but I chose Perceptor. I know somehow this should say something about me, but I'm not sure what. I still own the first Transformer comics... too bad they're not really worth…

Strange but true.

I saw the same parade three times the other night.  A little over a week ago Jill and I went to the Fridley parade. We parked in a church parking lot a couple of blocks from the parade route. (more…)
