I was texting my friend, Brit, today and the word ‘herb’ came up. I told Matt that it’s funny pronouncing it ‘erb.’ It’s such a contradiction of American English (let alone British English) because we pronounce the ‘h’ in herbivore, but not in herb.
Matt said when he was in Bible Quiz, he answered a question as ‘herb’ which he pronounced ‘erb.’ The judges stared at him, waiting for the answer and finally -with only seconds left- he said, “Herb.” They nodded and gave him the point.
Ere’s to you erb. Rather, I mean, here’s to you herb.
