I recently purchased a backdrop for filming an interview on a white background. The backdrop is white muslin. I learned a little trick from a friend and directed two of my three lights at the white background to “blow it out” on the camera. The last light was positioned slightly to the left of the subjects. All three lights are bi-color, so I was able to match the color of fluoresecent lighting in the room and adjusted the white balance of the camera to match as well (3600K).
It really works wonders. The great thing about this trick is that it completely hides all of the wrinkles and folds of the sheet, so there’s no need to iron.
