My wife maxed out the storage on her phone, so I had to figure out how to download photos from a Galaxy Note 4 to a Mac. I’ve had some trouble in the past transferring the photos, but have always figured it out. This time, however, I think the lack of free space complicated things. I tried Samsung Kies, but it kept locking up. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but had no luck with Kies.
I was able to get Android File Transfer to work momentarily on the pics with some help from Samsung’s website, but the app would lock up every time I tried to open the camera folder to get the video files. I searched a few apps and came across Wifi File Transfer. After installing, I simply typed in the given IP address into the browser and I now had access to the file system through Chrome. I was then able to download all 134 of the video files that had given me trouble to my Downloads folder. Once they were saved on my computer I deleted them through the same browser window.
Beyond the above solution, the lessons learned are to not max out the storage space and to take advantage of auto-syncing to a service like Google Drive or Dropbox so we don’t have to go through that again. Cheers!
