A few minutes ago I ventured into our backyard and found a headless rabbit. At first I thought that maybe we had some weirdo trying to play some creepy pranks on us (we also found a flattened bunny outside our front door the morning we left for Nicaragua). Examining the scene a little more closely, I found a dozen or so feathers surrounding the corpse. It was a full grown rabbit (about 12-14 inches long) and there was no blood spillage. The body was untouched. What bird does this feather belong to? Is that bird a bird of prey? Do they really eat rabbit heads? Or is there some creepy dude leaving dead rabbits around our house? Any thoughts?
Looks like a hawk feather to me.
It’s crazy to think that massacre took place in our yard, and that hawks appear to be fond of rabbit heads. Doesn’t seem very meaty to me. We should’ve kept the body and made a stew… (I am kidding, just in case you weren’t sure)
spillage…. haha.
