$855,232 in taxes

By April 15, 2009#Life

This is the first year that we didn’t file any taxes on April 15th <gasp>.  Instead we filed an extension for our federal taxes because we want to get the $8,000 first-time home buyer credit this year, but we can’t claim it until we close on the house.  So now we have until Oct. 15th to file.

Oddly enough, in Minnesota, did you know that you don’t need to get an extension?  There’s no penalty for filing late… only if you pay late (which is only 4%).

I love that our president’s taxes are public, it’s fascinating to see their 1040… $855,232 in taxes!!  Crazy… with a $26,000 refund.  Wouldn’t that be sweet?
