Bald Eagles

By September 16, 2008#Life

So I don’t know if I was just unobservant the last 30 years or just unlucky, but I’ve seen two bald eagles in the last couple weeks.  I can’t ever remember seeing one outside of captivity – or at least see it close enough to recognize it.  The first sighting was two weeks ago when Jill and I were running our 3.5 mile loop by our house.  An eagle flew slowly just 20 feet over our heads… I told it, “Please don’t hurt us”.  The second was on my way home from camp on Sunday and I saw one flying about 10 feet off the ground over the median in the highway.  You could tell it was searching for food.  These birds are truly amazing.  They are huge and I’m glad they live in Minnesota.
